Before the walls of Barad Eithel, Gelmir of Nargothrond is brought forth as a captive of Morgoth and slain before the eyes of the Elven host. The cruel act breaks the restraint of his brother Gwindor, whose grief and fury drive him into a reckless charge against the forces of Angband — setting the Battle of Unnumbered Tears into motion.
